What is Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, which is the thin, clear tissue that covers the white part of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelid. This condition can be caused by a variety of factors, including viruses, bacteria, allergies, or irritants.
Symptoms of conjunctivitis can vary depending on the underlying cause, but common symptoms include:
- Redness or swelling of the eye or eyelids
- Watery or thick discharge from the eye, which may be yellow or green in color
- Itchiness or burning sensation in the eye
- Sensitivity to light
- Blurred vision
